It's been a hard year, and the lean harvest promises an even harder winter. Spirits are so low that the townsfolk aren't even planning to have the Harvest Festival, which is usually a high point of the year.
When Danica's teacher in the mystic arts hears of this, he knows it simply won't do. There's far more to the Harvest Festival than the common folk know. He's determined to see that the important ritual of the harvest happens, and he needs Danica's help to do it.
Unfortunately, Danica is also wrestling with the question of whether to tell her boyfriend that she's barren, and never will be able to give him children.
She has to stand tall and do what's right, no matter the cost.
