Will likely go up at SOL and Lush tomorrow, with a release at Lit whenever they get around to it LOL It's been pretty inconsistent there lately. ================================== Dave caught up with his friends’ go-carts when they slowed down after finishing the race, and prepared himself. “Getting rusty, there,†was Will’s first jibe. Carl opened with, “Coming in third isn’t bad.†“Except when there’s only three,†Will finished. Dave grinned and shook his head. “Ha ha. Excuse me for getting a real job and not spending all my weekends here, like you two losers.†“Losers? Weren’t you paying attention? We won,†Carl taunted. “Speaking of paying,†Will said. “You’ll be paying for lunch, I believe.†Dave pulled off his helmet. “You see, that’s where I win. If I’d beaten you idiots, I’d be eating lunch off the dollar menu at McDonalds. At least this way, I get a decent meal.†“Yeah, yeah, moneybags,†Carl teased. The three had fallen into the easy comradery almost instantly, despite not having seen each other in five years. They continued to joke and taunt each other as they returned the go-carts, and all the way to the diner Will and Carl had chosen for their victory meal. Having just finalized a bitter divorce, it was exactly what Dave needed to lift his spirits. He knew why they had chosen the diner and not Red Lobster the moment they walked into the place. All the servers were hot young girls. Hardly one to argue with that choice, he enjoyed the scenery while they ate and caught up. Their server was a strawberry blonde with big tits, and she brushed up against him more than once during her frequent stops at their table. Then Carl asked, “Do you know who that is?†Dave and Will both shook their heads. “That’s Amy Farber’s daughter, Caitlin,†Carl explained. In an instant, the nagging sense of recognition that had struck Dave the moment she walked over to the table made sense. “Oh, shit,†Will said. “Amy Farber. You banged her and her mom.†It was the incident that had forever cemented Dave’s reputation as the biggest player in town, all those years ago. He had dated Amy for a couple of months, and they’d gotten into an argument over something he couldn’t remember, resulting in her breaking up with him. That night, he’d happened upon her hot mom exiting a bar, and one thing had led to another. Amy had shown up at his place to apologize just as her mother was leaving with an unmistakable, freshly-fucked look about her. Carl said, “Just turned eighteen five days ago.†Dave said, “Damn, Carl. Keeping track, are you?†They all chuckled briefly, but stifled it and tried to look natural because Caitlin was returning to the table. She handed over the check, and Dave wrote down a thirty-five percent tip before handing it back, along with his credit card. Caitlin’s eyes – and her smile – both widened when she took the check back to the counter. “Give her your number?†Will asked. “As if I need the drama of an eighteen-year-old,†Dave answered. “Got enough of that from my ex-wife.†“What drama?†Carl asked suggestively. “You’re only in town for the weekend. A day of drama for a piece of that sounds like a good deal.†They all laughed, and Dave couldn’t resist a good look at her swaying ass when she left the table after returning his card, but messing around with a barely legal teenager was not in his game plan for the weekend. Heading back to Carl’s house for a couple of beers was.

On as RR, and don't feel like switching, LOL. Finally finished the first pass edit, and it's off to Roust for the final look-see. Once he gets it back to me and we finalize it, it will be up to Lit. The posting schedule there has been a little whack lately. I'll probably put it in the queue the Sunday after it goes gold, minimizing the change it posts on Saturday or Sunday, which blow goats. As soon as I know when it's going live ( or when it does ) at Lit, I'll try to coordinate the SOL release to hit at the same time. Cranked out a couple of stories in this name, getting my groove back on. Some silly little stroke pieces are a better first step than diving straight back into a long, complicated narrative when I haven't been able to write lately. I'm going to pop open Ch. 21 and try to get those revisions going tomorrow so I can move forward again.

I forgot to update this in the midst of working out the updates to my hosing, and preparing to update some of my software. Happen to be logged in as RR right now, but I'm going to do the update anyway, rather than go through the whole process to transform into Dark again. I figured out the scene that follows the one I'm writing now, and the transition is easy. Same goes for transitioning from that next scene into the one that follows. Should be a fairly logical transition into the one that follows that, as well. IOW, I'm ready to move forward again

Here's a quick, barely edited preview of "Pot Head" ========================= Rob rolled up to his parents’ house and pushed his mountain bike into the shadows by the porch. With his younger sister soon to turn eighteen and heading off to college in the fall, his parents were milking her remaining time at home for all it was worth. This week, it was a ski trip to Colorado. He was going to take advantage of every moment he could. Unfortunately, his weird work schedule meant that he was flying solo, but it wasn’t all bad. He’d scored two primo joints, and after a long frustrating work week, mellowing out in one of his parents’ deck chairs and staring at the stars was just the ticket. The nearest neighbor was well out of sniffing distance, so he didn’t have to worry about that either. Of course, it was still best if nobody noticed him, so he didn’t have to use his prepared excuse if his parents asked. To that end, he unlocked the door and headed through the house. There was just enough light filtering through the curtains from the security lights to guide his way through the still-familiar environs, so he didn’t bother turning on a light. He reached the sliding glass door at the back and was about to open it when he heard the murmur of voices. “Holy shit,†he muttered under his breath. There in the hot tub were three of his sister’s friends, passing a joint around, and they were all topless. He hadn’t seen any of them for more than a few seconds – and at a distance – since leaving for college. What a difference four years had made. Despite the changes, he knew them all instantly. Trish had let her dark brown hair grow out, and it looked good on her. What looked even better were her tits. It revealed the joint, but let her slip her exposed breast beneath the water. “Nah,†Rob said as he sat down, and then reclined on one of the deck chairs. The move eliminated the view, but offered a chance of more, if he played his cards right. “Smells like skunkweed.†“Are you just going to sit there?†Trish asked. Rob grinned and said, “I just got comfortable. Think I’ll relax for a while.†With that, he pulled out one of his joints, gave it a sniff, and then reached in his pocket for a lighter. At the revelation of the joint, the scowls decorating the girls’ faces faded. A quiet conference ensued while Rob lit up his blunt. Renee was the one to ask, “Any chance you might share that? We only had the one for all three of us, and like you said, it wasn’t very good.†Rob slowly exhaled, and then said, “Damn, that’s the good shit. I might, if someone wants to come over and take a hit.â€

She closed her eyes against the strands of auburn hair trying to fly into them, and then smoothed back the tresses when the wind abated. All the work she’d done this morning had been destroyed in a few seconds, but she wasn’t troubled. She was returning home without dread, which was still a novel enough experience for her to ignore the little disasters. It had started with her first roommate in college, and continued on to the apartment complex she’d just vacated. For well over a decade, she’d been saddled with neighbors that ran the gamut from irritating gossip all the way up to drug dealers. Coming home had held some degree of apprehension for her ever since the day she’d moved out of her parents’ house. Until now. “Bit of a breeze out here,†Mr. Davidson called from next door where he sat on his porch, drinking coffee. Wendy returned the retiree’s smile and answered, “Just a bit.†“The missus baked some cookies, and she told me to ask if you wanted some.†She chuckled. “I do, but I’ve already cheated on my diet enough the last couple of days.†“Diet,†he scoffed. “Why, you’re thin as a rail.†“And it takes a lot of work to stay that way,†she answered back. “Well, if you change your mind, just drop on by.†“I will. Tell Bernice I said thank you.†“Will do.†After waving a farewell, Wendy climbed the porch steps to the house. Opening the door to see her new living room set was something else that still gave her a touch of giddy euphoria. Her recent promotion had allowed her to leave the apartment life behind at long last. Frugal living had allowed her to fill it with everything she’d always wanted – within reason. She dropped her purse and keys on a small, round table near the door that she’d purchased for exactly that reason, and then stepped out of her heels. A sigh of relief had barely escaped her when the doorbell rang. Having received a text message from her other next-door neighbor while she was at work, she had a good idea who had rung the bell. Charlotte was wearing a wide smile and ignoring the wind doing a number on her long brunette hair when Wendy opened the door. She was holding the package she’d mentioned in her text. “Can you believe the delivery man thought tossing your welcome mat over it was good enough?†Charlotte asked as she held out the package. Wendy accepted her delivery and said, “Thanks for picking it up for me.†“I mean, it’s a nice neighborhood, but still. Anyway, is that what I think it is?†the brunette asked with a sparkle in her eyes. Wendy’s cheeks warmed, but she nodded in acknowledgment. It was Charlotte who had recommended the vibrator, after all. They’d already discussed it in far more intimate detail. “You’re going to love it. Trust me,†Charlotte said. “I have lasagna in the oven, so I need to run.†The two exchanged their farewells, and then Wendy took her package to the bedroom. On the verge of waving, she was surprised to see someone else step into view. He was blond, handsome, and looked to be college age – easily fifteen years their junior, if not closer to twenty. Before she could even begin to wonder who he was, Charlotte reached out and cupped her hand between the young man’s legs. Wendy gasped in shock and disbelief. Her fight or flight instinct kicked in, and she hurried toward the back door. Just before reaching it, she glanced back toward her neighbor’s window and saw Charlotte looking her way. Their eyes met for the briefest of moments, but it was enough. After closing the door behind her, Wendy leaned against it and sighed. In a fraction of a second, her idyllic new life had crashed on the rocks. If she hadn’t seen it with her own eyes, she would have never believed Charlotte would cheat on her husband. She couldn’t imagine why, either. Her neighbor had nothing but praise for her husband, both in and out of the bedroom. She was still reeling when the doorbell rang. In a panic, she remained at the back door, not sure what to do. The bell rang a second time, and she forced herself to move. With every step through the house, she prayed that it wasn’t Charlotte at the door. Her hopes were dashed.
